Situated just 7 miles from the historic city of York, this small family run adults only touring caravan park provides a peaceful holiday location within a beautiful lakeside setting with coarse fishing. Westerly Lake Caravan Park is teeming with wildlife and dedicated to peace and quiet. Located on the edge of the village of Wheldrake you are within walking distance of the village pub and shop, and with the Designer Outlet and Park and Ride a short drive away, Westerly Lake is the ideal place to spend your holiday, or to use as a base for exploring the City of York, East Coast seaside towns, and the North York Moors National Park. Please note, we no longer take bookings for dogs that have not stayed with us before.
The day ticket fishery is open from 7am and all lines must be reeled in by the sunset time posted on the Lodge window, and also written on the day ticket (latest 9pm). Day tickets are available, and advance booking is not needed.
Rules for the fishery are available on our website westerlylake.co.uk, and anglers are advised to check these before coming to fish. Carp anglers please note that braided hook links, spodding, and bait boats are not allowed, and all leads must be free running on the mainline.
Many carp are lost through fishing too heavy at such short range, and the bigger fish are more often caught by putting a few free offerings in the swim rather than piling bait in! Alternatively sit back from the water quietly and fish the margins..... knocking your banksticks in with a hammer is not recommended!
Westerly Lake offers fantastic roach fishing, with many fish in the 12 to 18 oz range that are not 'tackle shy' and they often take the larger baits intended for carp. The bream fishing is also very good with many fish in the 1 to 3lb range, and larger fish are regularly caught.
For insurance reasons the minimum age on the whole property is 16, and dogs are not allowed.
