Coarse fishing & fly fishing for coarse fish at St. Tinney

St. Tinney is a long established fishery, with five professionally managed coarse fishing lakes for pleasure anglers. We only allow people staying at St. Tinney to fish our lakes, they are not open to the public on a day ticket fishery basis. This way, we aim to keep the fishing a unique, private and rewarding experience, with the fish treated in the best way possible and in the best possible condition.

We have carp over 25lbs in weight, with many double figure fish in Swallow Lake, but we also have specimen sized perch, roach and bream in all other lakes.

Our waters are not subject to a close season and therefore can be fished all year round.

All those wishing to fish at St. Tinney must collect a St. Tinney Farm fishing permit upon arrival. From March until November, we charge £15 per person, per rod, per week or part week, from November to March, we make no charge for fishing.

Children under 14 will not be permitted to fish unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult over 18 years of age at all times.

Kingfisher Lake: This prime carp lake is a must for any angler with the average weight over 5 lbs per fish. With comfortable pegs to fish from and a host of features, this lake is one of the most popular with an area to park your car just above the lake. Catching 100 lbs of fish in this lake is very easily achieved, with many anglers staying for a whole week on just this lake. The lake not only has carp to be fished for, but some superb roach, hard fighting tench and pure crucian carp. Approximately 100 metres from the accommodation and camping areas, and is reached by an earth and shale pathway, although you can park a car within 10 metres.

Moorhen Lake: This lake is entirely devoted to Silver fish, with high number’s of skimmer Bream, Roach and Rudd, a great lake for angler’s who wish to try catching something other than carp, or a beginner wetting their first line. There is hours of fun to be had here with a simple whip rod and a tub of maggots. Keep nets allowed on this pond ONLY. Approximately 200 metres from the accommodation and camping areas, and is reached by an earth and shale pathway, or via the parking area by Kingfisher Lake, approximately 100 metres.

Woodpecker Lake: This pond is a great get-away, while hearing the river in background or watching a kingfisher fly feet away from you. Our smallest and most intimate water, yet still teaming with fish where carp and tench can be caught all year round. The lake has many lily pads, bull rushes, irises and willows, making it a haven for fish and wildlife. Approximately 250 meters from the accommodation areas, it is reached by a gently sloping grass and shale path.

Mallard Lake: Converted and re-stocked as a dedicated Tench lake in March 2015, the lake has a uniform depth of about 6ft, so you can fish inches from the bank. Due to the climate in the south west we generally have very mild winter’s so the fish feed hard all year. There are a limited number of pegs on this lake to give the angler their own piece of water with bays full of lilies and rushes. Approximately 500 metres from the accommodation and camping areas, although ta car can be parked about 30 metres from it by driving down an earth and shale track to a gravel car park.

Swallow Lake: Our biggest and most mature lake provides an excellent mixed coarse fishery. The lake provides unbelievable sport all year round in a picture perfect location. Fishing is made easy from large pegs and although this is the furthest lake from the accommodation areas, a car can be drive to the lake side, where there is ample parking. The lake contains a large number of Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Chub and very large Perch which are very often caught of over 4 lbs in weight, which provide excellent predator fishing during the winter months. Approximately 1000 metres from the accommodation and camping areas, although a car can be parked about 10 metres from it by driving down an earth and shale track.
