Welcome to Rising Eagle Resort, your home away from home! We know that vacations do not come often enough and we are committed to help make your vacation at Rising Eagle Resort a wonderful experience for you, your family, and your friends. We have cabins available from ‘Opener’ weekend in May all the way thru Deer hunting in November. Be it relaxing by a fire, catching the ‘Big one’ on the lake, hunting in the fall, listening to the sounds of nature and the water lapping against the shore, or the sight of a beautiful sunrise and sunset . Come and “get away from it all”, enjoy all the North country offers at Rising Eagle Resort!
We are located in north central Minnesota in beautiful Itasca County on Big Jessie Lake, all within the boundaries of the Chippewa National Forest! Our location makes us the perfect choice to spend your next “up north” vacation for several reasons.
We are situated on the very quiet and private northwestern most point of Big Jessie Lake. Our resort faces the lake to the east which allows everyone to see those spectacular sunrises over the lake! A perfect place for a “getaway.” With only two private homes and no other businesses around us, we do not have a lot of boat traffic up our way. This allows for greater enjoyment of those who enjoy exploring the lake in our kayaks, canoes, and/or paddle boat.
Our quiet and private location also allows for the sighting of the many different animals and birds among us, including bald eagles! Many times, bald eagles are spotted flying right over us. On the lake, common loons, blue herrings, pelicans, wood ducks, mallards, and Canadian geese are seen throughout the fishing season. Swans are seen swimming in the early spring as the lake begins to thaw out. Beavers, minks, muskrats, and turtles are seen swimming in the lake as well. Deer, osprey, downy woodpeckers, pileated woodpeckers, and hummingbirds are also commonly seen. Hummingbird feeders are placed at all of our rental units where you are sure to get a close up view of these beautiful birds. There are moose in the area and on September 20, 2013 we got to see a couple of them across the lake from our lodge! Check out their picture on our “Photo Gallery” page.
Big Jessie Lake is a 1740-acre sand bottom lake with 9 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 42 feet. It is 4-1/2 miles long and over a 1/2 mile wide at its widest point. It is said to be the 18th largest lake in Itasca County. Due to its size, it offers wonderful fishing opportunities as well as water sport activities. Big Jessie Lake is first and foremost known for its walleye fishing. There currently are no slot limits in place on the lake. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR) manages the walleye population of this lake and they have stocked the lake every year since 2010.
