Pleasure fishing
Both the Kingfisher and Lagoon lakes are excellent venues for the pleasure angler. The kingfisher lake is heavily stocked with all species of course fish with the added knowledge of bonus double figure carp throughout this water. Typical tactics include pellet and standard waggler, slider float, pole and feeder and bomb.
During the summer months all baits on kingfisher lake will catch you fish throughout the day including hard and soft pellets, sweetcorn, maggots, bread, worms, luncheon meat and paste.
The lagoon lake is excellent for the pleasure angler as this lake is heavily stocked with all species of course fish up to low double figure carp. A lot of pleasure anglers have informed us their floats have been going under all day long and they have caught most course species! This lake suites mainly pole tactics because of its size and shape with a central island that you can fish too on four of the eighteen pegs.
All types of baits work well on the lagoon lake throughout the year.
Please ask the bailiffs what recent baits provide the best sport on this lake and visit our blog page to get information about recent catches and tactics used at Greenwood Fishery and Nature Reserve.
Match fishing
The Lagoon Lake is the main lake for the match angler. It has eighteen purpose build pegs with four pegs located infront of a central island. This lake is heavily stocked with all course species and match anglers can expect to catch 50lb+ to win matches in the summer months.
This lake suites mainly pole tactics because of its size, shape and physical features. Successful baits include soft pellets, sweetcorn, maggots, luncheon meat and paste.
During the winter months the Kingfisher Lake can be booked for matches because of its large head of bream to alb and silver fish.
Match bookings are taken all year round, so we would suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.
Specimen fishing
The Kingfisher Lake is stocked with many species of carp to accommodate the Specimen Angler. There are Common and Mirror Carp over 20lb. Other species of carp into double figures include Koi, Leather, Golden, Ghost and the smaller Crucian Carp.
Bivvy pegs are available to the specimen angler from peg 1 through to 6 and 12 for night fishing. Wooden cabins are also available for hire behind pegs 15 to 18. In addition, there are disabled pegs off the lake jetty on pegs 30 to 34 for both the specimen and pleasure angler.
Typical specimen tactics and heavy line work best of this water. There are too many tactics to mention here, however if you visit the carp-fishing-tactics.com this is a good start!
