The lake was created for the purpose of accumulating the water of the Zagorska Mrežnica River for the production of electricity from the hydro power plant Gojak. This lake is connected by a tunnel to Lake Bukovnik, about a kilometer away from the accumulation on the river Dobri, from where the tunnel to the hydroelectric plant Gojak, about ten kilometers from Ogulin, continues. The surface of the Sabljaci lake is about 170 hectares, so it is eleventh in size in Croatia. That's why many people call it "Ogulin Sea". Summer activities include "Jezerska igra", various water sports such as rowing, sailing, swimming, sport fishing and more.
